Master 1 in Translation

City Unity College offers in cooperation with the Institut de Traducteurs, d’ Interprètes et de Relations Internationales (ITI RI) of the University of Strasbourg, graduate programme in Translation. The programme is either bilingual (Greek and one foreign language) or trilingual (Greek and two foreign languages). Participation to the entrance exams is allowed to candidates who have completed at least three years in a Higher Education programme and are proficient in one or two foreign languages. Students who successfully complete Master 1 in Translation (1st year of studies), are admitted at the second year of studies (Master 2), in Strasbourg. The degree is awarded by the University of Strasbourg.

Graduates of the Master 1 programme can work as professional translators in cooperation with private and public organisations, the European institutions, and translation agencies.

Duration of studies: one year / two semesters
Credits: 60 (30 credits per semester)

Students are assessed through their in-class participation, the projects assigned to them by their instructors, semester exams and final exams.

Admission Requirements

In order to be enrolled in the programme, candidates must have completed at least three-year studies in a Higher Education programme and be proficient in Greek and one or two foreign languages. They must also pass successfully the entrance exams which are organized in June and in September every year.

Entrance Exams
The entrance exams take place every June and September in front of a committee comprising by representatives of the University of Strasbourg and members of the faculty of City Unity College and an external professional translator. Examination comprises of: a) translation from the foreign language(s) into Greek and from Greek into the foreign language(s) and b) oral interview before a committee.

Final exams
Final exams for Master 1 in Translation are held in June. Master 1 in Translation students take written exams assessed by each course’s instructor.
