
Moscow State Pedagogical University academics and students participated in seminar “English Language Program: Greece – Ancient and Modern” at CUC
A delegation of academics and students from Moscow State Pedagogical University (MSPU) participated in a series of lectures and seminars titled “English Language Program: Greece – Ancient and Modern” held at City Unity College from January 26 to February 1.
Four professors from this leading Russian and Eurasian Economic Union university – the group leader Associate Professor Sergey Zasorin, Director of Institute of Foreign Languages; Associate Professor Alexandra Zvyagintseva, Deputy Director of Studies, Institute of Foreign Languages; Professor Elizaveta Khamraeva, Director of School of Russian Language and Culture for Foreigners; and Associate Professor Lyudmila Popova, Deputy Head of Research, Department of Psychology, School of Pedagogy and Psychology – along with 16 MSPU students from Russia, China, Mongolia, and Vietnam enjoyed a week of high quality academic and cultural environment as they took part in five lectures and discussions at CUC premises and also had a chance to tour historical sites in Athens, including visits to the Acropolis, the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio, and various museums.
“Do You ZOOM: New Innovative English Language Platform” and “Slang and the New Fandango of Social Media” were two lectures / workshops presented by Dawn Stevens, English Language Program Leader, CUC, on January 28 and 29, respectively. Vassilis Zoumbos, Head of Business Department, CUC, on January 30, presented the lecture / discussion “21st Century Reforms in the Educational System of Greece”, while Dr. Panayotis Yannakopoulos, Business Department CUC, presented the lecture / discussion “The Byzantine World and Orthodox Christianity”, on January 31. The final lecture / discussion “New 21st Century Global Trends and the Future of Greece” was offered by Vesselin Todorov, Cardiff Metropolitan University MBA Program Leader and Level 6, MBA, and LLM Dissertation Coordinator, CUC.
The importance of the cooperation between Moscow State Pedagogical University and City Unity College was highlighted by the 5-year extension of the Agreement of Cooperation between MSPU and CUC covering: joint educational and research projects; exchange of professors, students, and know-how; participation in conferences and other scientific and research forums; and publications in academic journals and other scientific platforms. The agreement was signed by Professor Alexey Lubkov, Rector, MSPU, and Harris Geronikolas, President, City Unity Educational Group.
