Officer in Charge of Engineering Watch (EOW), Unlimited COC, issued by Transport Malta in cooperation with Maritime MT

Two (2) years of studies class-based, engine workshops, practical training for the issuance of certificates required for the provision of Seaman’s Book, ancillary certificates

One (1) year of sea service as an Engine Cadet on board an ocean-going vessel

This course aims to meet the mandatory minimum requirements for knowledge, understanding, and proficiency in table A-III/1 of the STCW Code for the following functions at the Operational Level

  • Marine Engineering
  • Electrical, Electronic & Control Engineering
  • Maintenance & Repair
  • Controlling the Operation of the Ship and Care for the Persons on Board

Duration of studies three (3) years, in Athens, Greece

Entry Requirements

  • Min 18 years old and Holder of High School Certificate (science orientation is preferable)
  • Hold a valid Seafarers Medical Fitness Certificate (IMO/ILO)
  • English Language Certificate

The course is accredited and approved by Transport Malta, Table A-III/1 of the STCW Code

On successful completion of the course and examination, the graduate Officer holder of the EOW Unlimited COC by Transport Malta will be able to work worldwide on Vessels of Unlimited Tonnage, as an Engine Officer in a Manned Engine Room or Designated Duty Engineer in a periodically Unmanned Engine Room both at Sea and in Port
